What if instead of apes becoming crazy smart and making shit that it was the Kangaroos? Kangaroo people! 200,000 years before Macropus sapien landed on the moon they began to use tools and eat wallabys and monitor lizards. Then they learned how to fish and ate from the ocean as well. When the ice age came and nearly wiped them out they learned that they can cover themselves with the skin of the animals they have killed and eaten, they made weapons out of their bones to kill more animals for food, shelter, weapons, and storytelling. They figured out how to fashion floatie thingies so they can get to other lands and search for resources. They soon discover the apes and attempt to domesticate them for meat and agriculture. Some keep them as pets but some apes are violent and a split in the greater Macropus community becomes inevitable on whether or not apes should be destroyed or banned from Macropus residences. This was known as the Great Hop Rift.
